The MrNasDog Pressure Framework reads Plasma (XPL) as strongly inflationary: circulating XPL grew +42.65% over the last 90 days and is set to grow another +15.07% over the next 90. Almost all of it is vesting. The one-year team and investor cliff on Sep 25 2026 released 1.67B XPL, the ecosystem pool added 266.7M XPL in three monthly tranches, and from Oct 25 2026 a tranche of 227.8M XPL unlocks on the 25th of every month until Sep 25 2028. Nothing on the buy side offsets it: there is no buyback, and the base-fee burn removed only about 15 XPL.

The verdict, in one paragraph

Between Jul 21 and Oct 19 2026, 1.93B XPL entered the float against 4.53B XPL circulating today, a net of +42.65%. A second market reading of the same 90 days shows +74.32%, 31.67 points higher, but it counts the same 1.93B XPL of unlocks, so no warning flag is shown. For the next 90 days the Plasma schedule adds 683.3M XPL, or +15.07%. XPL is a young token in the middle of its unlock calendar: inflationary by schedule, with no burn or buyback large enough to matter.

Sell pressure: where new XPL comes from

Protocol inflation is 0. Plasma’s tokenomics promise validators new XPL at 5% a year, falling by half a point a year to a 3% floor, but that issuance only switches on once outside validators and staking delegation go live. Neither has launched. On the Plasma chain the block producer’s balance rose by exactly the tips users paid, so no XPL is being minted for validators today.

Vesting unlocks are 1.93B XPL for the last 90 days. The Plasma mainnet beta went live on Sep 25 2025 with 10B XPL. One third of the 2.5B team allocation and one third of the 2.5B investor allocation sat behind a one-year cliff, and that cliff released 1.67B XPL on Sep 25 2026. The 3.2B ecosystem and growth reserve vests in 36 monthly tranches of 88.9M XPL, and three of them fell in the window, on Jul 25, Aug 25 and Sep 25 2026. The rest of the team and investor coins now vest monthly over two years: 69.4M XPL each, on the same day as the ecosystem tranche. That makes 227.8M XPL a month and 683.3M XPL over the next 90 days.

Foundation and unscheduled unlocks are 0. Every locked XPL is on the published calendar, so nothing can leave early without breaking it. The ecosystem coins that are already unlocked fund incentives, exchange campaigns and card cashback, but they already count as circulating, so spending them is a transfer, not new supply.

Long-term locks and bankruptcy are 0. No estate or trustee holds XPL. The 12-month lock on US buyers in the 2025 public sale ended on Jul 28 2026, but those coins were counted as circulating from launch, so the release did not change the float.

Buy pressure: where new XPL goes

Programmatic buyback is 0. Plasma does not buy XPL back with fees, revenue or treasury funds, and nothing in its docs, blog or news says it plans to.

The protocol fee burn is effectively 0. Plasma copies Ethereum’s EIP-1559 design, so the base fee of every transaction is destroyed. But Plasma’s blocks are only about 7% full, the base fee stays close to zero, and simple USDT transfers are free for users. Over the 90 days the burn came to about 15 XPL, and 12.5 XPL of that came from one busy hour on Oct 1 2026. Separately, about 22,470 XPL was sent by hand to dead addresses, a rounding error against 4.53B XPL in circulation.

Foundation buying is 0, and new long-term locks are 0. Since Sep 26 2026 the Plasma One card lets users lock XPL for 12 months to reach a higher card tier. That is a real lock for the user, but the coins still count as circulating, so it takes nothing out of the float. Staking, which could become a lock later, is not live.

Foundation and overhang

5.47B XPL is still locked, and all of it is scheduled: 1.67B for the team, 1.67B for investors and 2.13B for the ecosystem reserve. These coins sit in custody wallets, not in a lock contract, so the calendar is the promise. On-chain, the large allocation wallets paid out far more than the cliff on Sep 25 2026 as coins were moved into new custody wallets, and on the same day the team moved 300M XPL to a fresh wallet. The ecosystem coins already released since launch, about 1.87B XPL, are the foundation’s working budget and are already in the float.

These balances are refreshed at every rebuild. If any of them falls faster than the calendar allows between refreshes, the extra outflow enters the foundation and unscheduled unlocks row at the next refresh.

How XPL compares to other stablecoin and payment chains

Plasma competes with Tron and with newer chains built for stablecoins, but its supply works differently. Tron pays block producers new TRX every block and burns fees from heavy USDT traffic, so its supply story is issuance against burn. Plasma has no issuance yet and almost no burn, because it gives USDT transfers away for free. XPL’s supply story is vesting: who holds the locked coins and when they arrive.

That puts XPL closer to venture-backed Layer 1s in their first three years, such as Aptos, Sui or Monad, where a one-year cliff followed by monthly team and investor tranches drives the float. Against Ethereum, the contrast is the burn: Ethereum destroys part of every fee and removes thousands of ETH a quarter, while Plasma burned about 15 XPL in 90 days. Against hard-capped coins like Bitcoin, XPL has no cap at all once validator rewards start.

The practical difference is timing. Most of XPL’s dilution is fixed in a calendar that runs to Sep 25 2028. After that, supply growth falls to whatever the validator reward rate is, 5% a year at the start and 3% in the long run, less the fee burn.

What to watch in the next 90 days

Oct 25 2026: the first combined monthly unlock, 227.8M XPL from the team, investor and ecosystem allocations.

Nov 25 2026 and Dec 25 2026: the same 227.8M XPL each, taking the 90-day total to 683.3M XPL.

Staking delegation: no date is set, but the day outside validators and delegation go live, new XPL starts at about 5% a year and the protocol inflation row stops being zero.

Plasma One card locks: the 12-month card locks that began on Sep 26 2026 first unlock in late September 2027, and growth in locked balances shows how much XPL holders choose to keep off the market.

Summary

Plasma (XPL) is inflationary by schedule: circulating supply grew +42.65% in the 90 days to Oct 19 2026, driven by the 1.67B XPL team and investor cliff on Sep 25 2026, and is set to grow +15.07% in the next 90 days as 227.8M XPL unlocks every month. There is no buyback, the EIP-1559 fee burn is close to zero, and validator issuance has not started. The key risk is that monthly tranches keep landing until Sep 25 2028 while the fee burn stays too small to absorb any of them; staking delegation would add new issuance on top. The only ceiling is the calendar itself: 5.47B XPL is still locked, and none of it is scheduled to stop.
