OKB Inflation Analysis · October 2026 · Mixed flows · supply roughly steady

OKB supply did not move in the last 90 days. Between Jul 23 and Oct 21 2026 the ledger shows 0 OKB of new supply and 0 OKB removed, for a net change of 0.00%, and the next 90 days project the same 0.00%. OKB is the gas coin of OKX’s X Layer network, has no block reward and no vesting left, and has stayed at a total of 21M OKB since OKX burned 65.26M OKB on Aug 15 2025. Other supply trackers read +0.01%, the same picture.

The verdict, in one paragraph

OKB’s net supply change over the last 90 days is 0.00% of the 21M OKB in circulation, and the forecast for the next 90 days is also 0.00%. Other supply trackers show +0.01% for the same 90 days, a gap of 0.01 points, which is too small to need a warning flag on the page. Nothing was minted, nothing vested and nothing was burned in any amount that shows at two decimal places. OKB is a flat-supply exchange gas token: the number of coins stands still, and only the owners of those coins change.

Sell pressure: where new OKB comes from

Protocol inflation is 0 OKB. X Layer has no block reward. The network’s sequencer is paid in gas fees, and those fees are OKB that already circulates, so running the chain creates no new OKB. On the Ethereum side, the older OKB token still has about 429K OKB outstanding, and that number did not change by a single coin between Jul 23 and Oct 21 2026. OKX stopped OKB withdrawals to Ethereum in August 2025, and no OKB moved from Ethereum into X Layer in these 90 days.

Vesting unlocks are 0 OKB. OKB’s old release schedule ended in 2018, and all 21M OKB now count as unlocked. There is no team cliff, no investor unlock and no monthly release anywhere ahead.

Foundation and unscheduled unlocks are 0 OKB. OKX itself is the only large holder that matters, and its wallets on X Layer hold about 19.42M OKB. That pile is mostly customers’ coins, and every coin in it already counts as circulating, so when OKX moves OKB out to users or to the market, no new supply appears.

Long-term locked or bankruptcy supply is 0 OKB. No court case, estate or long lock holds OKB waiting to come back to the market.

Buy pressure: where new OKB goes

Programmatic buyback is 0 OKB. For years OKX bought back OKB with exchange profits and burned it. That programme ended with the one-time burn of 65.26M OKB on Aug 15 2025, which brought the total down to 21M OKB. OKX said at the time that the total would stay at 21M, and no OKB buyback has run since.

Protocol fee burn is 0 OKB. Gas on X Layer is not destroyed. About 1.14K OKB of fees flowed into the network’s fee vaults during these 90 days, and those coins stay in circulation. A few stray transfers to burn addresses removed under half a coin in total, far too little to show in the ledger.

Foundation buy is 0 OKB. OKX does not buy OKB for its own treasury. The company raised new money in October 2026 at a $25B valuation, and none of that went into buying the coin.

New long-term lock is 0 OKB. Builders must stake OKB to run a market on X Layer’s Exchange OS, and some OKB sits in lending pools on the network. Those coins still count as circulating, so they do not take anything out of the count.

Foundation and overhang

The biggest OKB holder by far is OKX. Its known wallets on X Layer held about 19.42M OKB on Oct 21 2026, down 110,765 OKB over the 90 days. OKX’s October 2026 reserves report shows 19.73M OKB in its wallets against 19.69M OKB owed to customers, so OKX’s own share is only about 39K OKB. In other words, about nine out of every ten OKB sit on the exchange, almost all of them for its users.

The second, much smaller pile is X Layer’s gas fee vaults, which held about 2.27K OKB at the end of the window and grow by roughly 1.14K OKB every 90 days. We read these wallets on-chain at every rebuild and check the exchange’s reserves report once a month. If any of these balances falls between checks, the outflow enters Sell #3 at the next check. Today none of them can add supply, because every coin in them already counts as circulating.

How OKB compares to other exchange tokens

Most exchange tokens shrink on purpose. BNB runs a scheduled auto-burn every quarter plus a burn of part of its gas fees, and LEO is bought back with exchange revenue. Those designs make supply fall a little every quarter. OKB used to work the same way, with regular buyback-and-burn rounds, but OKX swapped that model for one large burn in August 2025 and a fixed total of 21M OKB. Since then OKB neither grows nor shrinks.

Against layer-2 gas tokens the picture flips. Many layer-2 networks still pay out new tokens to their teams, investors and ecosystem funds every month, so holders have to absorb steady unlocks. OKB has none of that left: no unlocks, no rewards, no emission. The trade-off is that nothing removes coins either, because X Layer gas is kept by the network rather than burned, and fees are tiny.

The real difference is custody. With about nine in ten OKB sitting in exchange wallets, OKB’s float is shaped by how OKX users trade, not by a mint or a burn schedule.

What to watch in the next 90 days

First, OKX’s monthly reserves report, with the next one expected in November 2026: a sharp drop in the OKB held for customers would show coins leaving the exchange. Second, the X Layer protocol upgrades OKX has planned for Q4 2026; any change to how gas is handled, such as a fee burn, would add a buy row. Third, the joint venture of OKX and the owner of the New York Stock Exchange is waiting on US approval to trade 63 tokenized US stocks on X Layer, which would bring more gas use but no new OKB. Fourth, the OKB contract can still be upgraded by its owner key, so any upgrade or new buyback announcement would reopen the supply count at once.

Summary

OKB’s supply was flat over the last 90 days, at 0.00%, and is projected to stay flat for the next 90 days, with other trackers reading +0.01%. OKB is the gas coin of OKX’s X Layer, with 21M OKB in total since OKX’s 65.26M OKB burn on Aug 15 2025, no block reward, no vesting, no buyback and no fee burn. The main risk is concentration: about 19.42M OKB sit in OKX’s wallets, almost all of it customers’ coins, so the exchange shapes the float. The ceiling is the 21M total, which only an upgrade of the token contract could change.
