LIT Inflation Analysis · October 2026 · Mixed last 90D · projected to grow

The MrNasDog Pressure Framework reads Lighter (LIT) at 0.00% net over the last 90 days and +5.41% over the next 90: no new LIT reached the market from July to October, but the first team and investor unlock, about 13.51M LIT, is due on Dec 30 2026. Lighter has a fixed 1B LIT supply and no minting, so new supply on the market comes from unlocks of coins that already exist. The fee buyback bought 2.33M LIT in 90 days, yet the float did not shrink, because the bought coins pay stakers while the matching burns come from the unreleased ecosystem reserve. Our monitor reads −0.14%.

The verdict, in one paragraph

LIT’s circulating supply of 250M LIT was flat across the 90 days from Jul 17 to Oct 15 2026: 0 LIT of new sell pressure and 0 LIT of buy pressure on the float, for a framework reading of 0.00%. The monitor reads −0.14% for the same window, a gap of 0.14 percentage points, inside our 0.5-point tolerance, so no warning chip is shown. The forward 90 days change the picture: the Dec 30 2026 insider release adds about 13.51M LIT, or +5.41% of today’s float, and the same amount follows every month until late 2029. In one line: Lighter is a quiet float that turns into a monthly unlock schedule from the end of 2026.

Sell pressure: where new LIT comes from

Protocol inflation is 0 LIT. The LIT token on Ethereum has no mint path we could find, and total supply read exactly 1B LIT at both ends of the window, with the value held in ordinary contract storage, so a mint would have shown. Lighter pays stakers a fixed 6% a year on 113.57M LIT staked; in these 90 days a team wallet sent 1.69M LIT to the reward account. That wallet is filled with coins the fee buyback bought, which already count as circulating, so the rewards move coins between holders and add nothing new.

Vesting unlocks are 0 LIT for the last 90 days and about 13.51M LIT for the next 90. Lighter gave its team 26% and its investors 24% of the supply, 500M LIT in total, with a one-year lock from the Dec 30 2025 launch and three years of release after. We read every one of the roughly 260 wallets holding that share at both ends of the window: together they still hold exactly 500M LIT, and not one of them sent coins out. Unlock trackers show the release in 37 monthly parts, the first on Dec 30 2026, which is 500M divided by 37, or about 13.51M LIT a month. One tracker dates the first part Jan 28 2027 instead; we use the earlier date because it is inside the window and is the more careful reading.

Foundation and unscheduled unlocks are 0 LIT. The ecosystem reserve, 231.81M LIT, has no published release plan, and in these 90 days its only move was the Oct 10 2026 burn described below. Long-term locks or bankruptcy releases are 0 LIT: Lighter has no estate or trustee holding coins, and the only lock is the team and investor share already counted under vesting.

Buy pressure: where new LIT goes

The programmatic buyback books 0 LIT on the ledger, although it is a real buyer. Lighter uses trading fees to buy LIT on its own spot market every day; from Jul 17 to Oct 15 2026 the treasury account bought 2.33M LIT for about $7.57M. After each quarter Lighter withdraws the bought coins to a team wallet and sends the same number of coins from the ecosystem reserve to a dead address. The team has said burning reserve coins instead of the bought ones is the same for holders. For the float it is not: the bought coins stay in circulation and are paid out as staking rewards and other transfers, while the coins destroyed were never circulating.

The protocol fee burn also books 0 LIT. On Oct 10 2026 Lighter burned 2,452,017 LIT for the July to September buyback, after 15.64M LIT on Jul 10 2026, so 18.09M LIT are gone for good. Both burns came out of the ecosystem reserve, so they lower the supply that can ever reach the market, from 1B to about 981.9M LIT, without taking coins off the market today. Foundation buying is 0 LIT: nothing beyond the fee buyback shows a team or treasury purchase. A new long-term lock is 0 LIT: staking holds 113.57M LIT, but unstaking takes only three days and staked coins still count as circulating.

Foundation and overhang

Three pools sit outside the 250M LIT float. The largest is the team and investor share, 500M LIT, held in about 260 wallets plus one distribution wallet with 36.12M LIT, all untouched so far and due to start releasing on Dec 30 2026. The second is the ecosystem reserve, 231.81M LIT, set aside for future points seasons, partners and growth programs, with no dates published; it is also the source of every burn. The third is not outside the float but is worth watching: a team wallet holding 12.68M LIT of bought-back coins, which paid out 5.27M LIT in these 90 days to the staking reward account, a trading wallet and partners. The treasury account adds 377.6K LIT bought since Oct 1. We read the insider wallets, the reserve and the team wallet on chain at every rebuild; if the reserve or the insider share falls between rebuilds, the outflow enters Sell #3 at the next refresh.

How LIT compares to other perpetual-exchange tokens

LIT belongs to the group of tokens issued by on-chain perpetual futures exchanges, alongside Hyperliquid (HYPE), Aster (ASTER) and Jupiter (JUP). Like most of them, Lighter has a fixed supply and no inflation from staking or block rewards, so the supply story is about unlocks of coins that already exist and about what the exchange does with its fee income. Where Lighter differs is the order of events: three quarters of LIT were still outside the float ten months after launch, and half of the total belongs to insiders on a single schedule that starts on one date.

The buyback design is also different. Hyperliquid sends its fee buying to a fund that holds the purchased HYPE, so that buyback takes coins out of holders’ hands. Lighter buys LIT with fees too, but burns reserve coins in place of the bought ones and recycles the bought ones to stakers. The result is a smaller maximum supply rather than a smaller market supply. For a reader comparing perp-exchange tokens, the useful question is not whether a buyback exists, but where the bought coins end up: in a burn, in a locked fund, or back in holders’ hands.

What to watch in the next 90 days

Dec 30 2026 is the date that matters: the first team and investor release of about 13.51M LIT, followed by the same amount every month. Watch how many of the roughly 261 insider wallets send coins to exchanges in the first weeks after it.

Watch the October to December buyback and its burn, which on the last two quarters came about ten days after the quarter closed, so around early January 2027; at today’s price the same fee income buys about 2.47M LIT a quarter. Watch the team wallet that pays stakers: once its 12.68M LIT runs low, rewards would have to come from the reserve, and that would count as new supply. Watch for a new points season or partner program paid from the 231.81M LIT reserve, which would also be new supply. Watch the unlock calendar itself, since one tracker places the first release on Jan 28 2027 rather than Dec 30 2026.

Summary

The MrNasDog Pressure Framework reads Lighter (LIT) at 0.00% over the last 90 days and +5.41% over the next 90, with the monitor at −0.14%. LIT has a fixed supply with no minting; its fee buyback is real but recycles bought coins to stakers, and its burns of 18.09M LIT so far come from the ecosystem reserve, cutting the maximum supply rather than the float. The key risk is the team and investor share of 500M LIT, which starts releasing about 13.51M LIT a month on Dec 30 2026 and runs to late 2029, against a buyback that bought 2.33M LIT in the last 90 days. Until fee income grows several times larger, the unlocks set the direction of LIT’s supply.
