KCS Inflation Analysis · October 2026 · Mixed flows · supply roughly steady
KCS supply stood still over the 90 days to Oct 15 2026. KuCoin Community Chain mints no new KuCoin Token, the monthly buyback and burn has not fired since Dec 31 2025, and the 2022 lock wallet that holds 47.5M KCS did not send a single coin. The MrNasDog Pressure Framework books 0 KCS of sell pressure and 0 KCS of buy pressure, a net of 0.00%, and projects 0.00% for the next 90 days. The published circulating figure still rose 2.5M KCS on Oct 1 2026, because the lock plan counts one more slice as unlocked each quarter even though the coins stay where they are.
The verdict, in one paragraph
Our primary read of KCS is 0.00% net supply change over the last 90 days and 0.00% over the next 90, on a circulating base of 139.66M KCS out of 142.16M in existence. The inflation monitor reads +1.92% for its own 90-day window, a gap of 1.92 percentage points, so the page carries a ⚠ monitor gap note. We walked that gap to its source: the supply figure the monitor follows stepped up by 2.5M KCS on Oct 1 2026, the same quarterly step it took on Jul 1 2026, when one more slice of the 2022 lock plan was counted as unlocked. On-chain the lock wallet held the same 47.5M KCS at both ends of the window, so no coin reached the market and our number stays. KCS today is a quiet exchange token: no minting, no burning, and one large wallet that has not moved in four and a half years.
Sell pressure: where new KCS comes from
Protocol inflation is 0 KCS. KuCoin Community Chain, the network where KCS is the gas coin, has no block reward. Validators are paid from a reserve pool that KuCoin refills with coins it already holds: 215,339 KCS went into that pool in these 90 days, about 2,390 a day, and about 152,800 KCS was paid out to validators. Those are existing coins moving from KuCoin to validators, so they add nothing to supply.
Vesting unlocks are 0 KCS on our ledger. The 2022 KCS whitepaper re-locked 50M KCS (25M and 7M gifted to the KCS Management Foundation, 18M for early investors) to unlock in 20 quarterly slices of 2.5M over five years. KuCoin named one cold wallet as the home of the locked coins back in 2020. That wallet sent the first 2.5M slice, a 20M burn and a 20M reward pool on Mar 31 2022, and has sent nothing since. The published circulating figure counts every slice after that as unlocked anyway, so today only 2.5M is still counted as locked, but the coins themselves never left. We count supply when it reaches the market, and none did.
Foundation and unscheduled unlocks are 0 KCS: none of the team-side wallets we follow sent coins out in the window. Long-term locked or bankruptcy supply is 0 KCS: there is no bankruptcy estate, court-run trustee or long lock paying out KuCoin Token.
Buy pressure: where new KCS goes
The programmatic buyback is 0 KCS for this window. For years KuCoin bought KCS back with part of its profit and destroyed it every month; the 66th burn, of 20,240 KCS, landed on Dec 31 2025. Since then the burn address has gained only 0.46 KCS of dust, just 0.018 of it in these 90 days, and KuCoin has published no burn notice in 2026. With no burn for more than nine months and no new schedule, we project nothing for the next 90 days either.
The protocol fee burn is 0 KCS: gas paid on KuCoin Community Chain goes to validators, and no share of a fee is destroyed. Foundation buying is 0 KCS: no KuCoin or Foundation purchase showed up on-chain or in announcements. New long-term locks are 0 KCS: about 55.4M KCS is staked with chain validators and more is staked on the exchange for its fee bonus, but staked KCS still counts as circulating, so it takes nothing out of the float.
Foundation and overhang
The KuCoin Token overhang is large, and it sits in a handful of wallets that barely move. The biggest is the 2022 lock wallet with 47.5M KCS, untouched since Mar 31 2022; only 2.5M of it is still counted as locked, so about 45M is already in the circulating figure without ever having been sold. Next is the holder and contributor reward pool with 19.9M KCS, untouched since 2024, then an early KuCoin wallet with 12.48M KCS, untouched since Mar 2025, and two wallets that took the first slice in 2022 with 1.6M and 0.9M KCS, which have never moved. The burn address holds the 26.78M KCS destroyed on this chain so far.
We read all of these balances from the chain at every rebuild. If any of them falls between refreshes, the outflow enters Sell #3 at the next refresh, and a move from the lock wallet would be the single biggest supply event KCS could have.
How KCS compares to other exchange tokens
Exchange tokens usually earn their supply story from a buyback or burn funded by exchange profit. KCS ran exactly that model for years, with a stated goal of shrinking from 200M to 100M KCS, and about 57.8M has been destroyed so far. What sets KCS apart in October 2026 is that the burn has gone silent. Tokens whose exchanges still burn on a fixed schedule shrink every quarter; KCS today neither shrinks nor grows.
The second difference is the lock. Many exchange tokens launched with a large team share that has long since been spent or burned. KCS still has a single wallet holding about a third of its circulating supply, untouched since 2022. Compared with chain tokens that pay validators in newly minted coins, KCS has no issuance at all: validator pay comes out of KuCoin’s own holdings, so the chain itself never dilutes holders.
So KCS sits between the two usual shapes: no new supply like a capped coin, no burn like an uncapped one, and a concentrated overhang that decides which way it goes next.
What to watch in the next 90 days
Around Jan 1 2027 the last 2.5M KCS slice of the 2022 lock plan is due to be counted as unlocked, which would take the locked figure to zero; it books 0 unless coins actually leave the lock wallet.
Any monthly or quarterly KCS burn notice from KuCoin would restart the buyback, and the first one would land in Buy #1.
Any outflow from the 47.5M KCS lock wallet, the 19.9M KCS reward pool or the 12.48M KCS early wallet would be new sell pressure on the next refresh.
KuCoin’s access block in South Korea from Oct 13 2026 does not change supply, but it is the kind of news that can change how much of the float holders want to keep.
Summary
KuCoin Token is flat on supply: 0.00% over the last 90 days and 0.00% projected for the next 90, against a monitor reading of +1.92% that comes from counting a locked slice as unlocked, not from coins moving. KuCoin Community Chain mints nothing, and the monthly buyback and burn has been silent since Dec 31 2025. The key risk is the 2022 lock wallet with 47.5M KCS, most of it already counted as circulating, which could reach the market at any time. The ceiling is the 142.16M KCS in existence, well under the 200M ever created.
