Chiliz has exactly two forces acting on CHZ supply, and one of them is bigger. A per-block mint on Chiliz Chain printed 151.4M CHZ over the 90 days to Aug 20 2026, while the fan-token revenue buyback-and-burn retired 28.9M CHZ and the base-fee burn a further 1.3M. That is +1.15% net supply growth against our supply monitor at +1.13%, a gap of 0.02 percentage points. The mint stepped down 16.5% on Jun 17 2026 and the lower rate now carries the whole forward quarter, so the framework projects +1.07% for the next 90 days. CHZ is an uncapped chain whose burn covers about a fifth of what it prints.
The verdict, in one paragraph
For the 90-day window ending Aug 20 2026, the MrNasDog Pressure Framework reads Chiliz at +1.15% net, with the forward view at +1.07%. Our supply monitor reads +1.13%, so the gap is 0.02 percentage points — far inside tolerance, and no monitor-gap flag ships. That agreement matters more than usual here, because the two readings share nothing. The monitor infers supply from market cap divided by price; the framework never looks at a supply series at all. It reads one number — the constant per-block credit paid to the Chiliz Chain validator reward contract, 35.962167 CHZ a block, which is the documented 65% share of a total mint of 55.3264 CHZ — and two burn-address balances at each end of the window. Two independent methods landing 0.02 percentage points apart is a strong reconciliation, not a coincidence of shared inputs. Chiliz is a structurally inflationary chain with a real but partial revenue burn.
Sell pressure: where new CHZ comes from
Sell #1, protocol inflation, is 151.4M CHZ, and on Chiliz Chain it is the entire sell side. Chiliz Chain mints a fixed amount of CHZ on every block and steps that amount down once a year along a published decay curve that runs from 8.80% in year one to a 1.88% forever rate after year fourteen, as amended for years three through seven by the Pepper8 governance proposal applied on Aug 27 2025. The year-three step landed inside this window. A binary search on the per-block credit put it at Chiliz Chain block 34,977,245, timestamped Jun 17 2026 at 07:59:57 UTC, where the mint fell from 66.2781 to 55.3264 CHZ a block — a cut of 16.5%. The window therefore holds 758,251 blocks at the old rate and 1,827,859 at the new one, which is where 151.4M comes from. Because a dated mechanism change sits mid-window, the forward column is re-based on the post-step rate alone: 142.6M CHZ over the next 90 days. The next step is not due until Jun 17 2027.
Sell #2, vesting unlocks, is zero, and the arithmetic proves it rather than a tracker asserting it. CHZ finished its release schedule in 2022, and the counted float and the chain’s own total supply are now the same number — 10,495,211,197 against a chain reading of 10,495,327,681, a tenth of a basis point apart. There is no locked bucket left, so there is nothing a cliff could release. Sell #3, foundation and unscheduled unlocks, is also zero, and this is the load-bearing call. Chiliz Chain routes 25% of each block’s mint to an ecosystem and operations wallet and 10% to a community vault wallet, and both moved over the window: the first fell from 16.96M to 2.44M CHZ, the second rose from 1.00M to 2.26M. Booking that outflow as a second sell row would count the same coins twice, because the CHZ passing through those wallets is the very mint already carried in Sell #1, and both wallets already sit inside the counted float. Sell #4, long-term locked or bankruptcy, is zero: Chiliz has no estate, no trustee schedule and no lock unwinding.
Buy pressure: where new CHZ goes
Buy #1, the programmatic buyback, is 28.9M CHZ, and it fired twice inside the window. Chiliz routes 10% of all fan-token and marketplace proceeds into open-market CHZ purchases and destroys what it buys. Reading the Chiliz Chain burn address at both ends of the window gives 20,111,530.38 on May 22 2026 rising to 49,058,590.71 on Aug 20 2026, a delta of 28,947,060 CHZ. A five-day sweep of that balance across the whole window shows it is flat except at two instants — May 26 2026 for 4.66M and Jul 29 2026 for 24.29M, the second settlement covering two months of revenue. Chiliz’s own burn reports state 4,660,013.33 and 24,287,036.58; the chain and the reports agree to ten CHZ. Two details are worth keeping. First, the relay wallet that sent all three burn transactions held nothing at either end of the window, so the CHZ passed straight through from market purchase to destruction rather than being shuffled between treasuries. Second, and decisively, the burn settles on Chiliz Chain, not on Ethereum — the Ethereum CHZ contract’s dead address held 65,406,454.43 at both ends and did not move at all, even though the project’s own May burn report names that address. Reading the wrong chain would have returned an honest, clean, entirely wrong zero.
Buy #2, the protocol fee burn, is 1.3M CHZ. Chiliz Chain implements an EIP-1559-style base-fee burn, and that burn leaves no footprint at any address — the coins are destroyed at protocol level rather than sent somewhere — so it has to be summed from the block headers themselves. Base fee held at a constant 2,500 gwei at every sampled block across the window, with gas used as the only variable; five independent random samples totalling 4,000 blocks pooled to 0.502 CHZ a block, or 1.3M over 90 days. Real, verifiable, and small next to a mint fifteen times larger. Buy #3, foundation buy, is zero — the only CHZ Chiliz buys is the buyback above, and every coin of it is burned rather than warehoused, so no accumulation pile exists that could come back out. Buy #4, new long-term lock, is zero: staking on Chiliz Chain is custody rather than a lock, and a live governance proposal would cut the unstaking wait to two days, making it shorter still.
Foundation and overhang
Chiliz carries an unusually small overhang for a chain of its age, because there is almost nothing left outside the float. The two tracked wallets are the ecosystem and operations wallet, holding 2.44M CHZ at the close of the window and refilled by a fixed 25% share of every block’s mint, and the community vault wallet, holding 2.26M CHZ and refilled by a fixed 10% share. Together that is 4.69M CHZ, roughly 0.04% of the float, and both are pass-through wallets spent at the project’s discretion rather than reserves on a schedule. Both are read on the chain every refresh. There is no unscheduled-unlock bucket at all — the chain’s total supply and the counted circulating supply are the same figure, so no allocation is being held back. There is no separate DAO treasury, no bankruptcy estate, and no buyback accumulation wallet, because bought-back CHZ is destroyed rather than stored. If either tracked wallet’s balance falls between refreshes by more than the mint puts into it, that outflow enters Sell #3 at the next refresh.
How CHZ compares to other uncapped application-chain tokens
CHZ belongs to a class that keeps growing its supply on purpose: uncapped proof-of-stake Layer 1s that pay validators from issuance rather than from fees. Against that class, Chiliz has a mild rate. Its per-block mint runs at roughly 5.5% a year today and is contractually falling — the curve reaches a 1.88% floor after year fourteen, and the schedule is written into the protocol rather than voted on each quarter. That is a meaningfully better shape than an uncapped chain with a flat or governance-set emission, because the decay is the default and stopping it would require a governance action, not the other way round.
The more interesting comparison is with exchange and platform tokens that run buyback-and-burn programmes, because Chiliz runs one and most Layer 1s do not. The structural difference is what the burn is measured against. An exchange token typically has a fixed or shrinking supply, so a revenue burn is pure deflation; Chiliz burns into a live mint, so the same mechanism only offsets. Over this window the buyback destroyed 28.9M CHZ against 151.4M minted — about a fifth. For CHZ to go deflationary, fan-token revenue would need to roughly quintuple at today’s price, or the price would need to fall far enough that the same fiat revenue buys five times the coins, which is not a mechanism anyone should want. The honest read is that the burn meaningfully slows the growth rather than reversing it.
Against hard-capped chains the contrast is simpler and starker. A capped coin has a ceiling written into the protocol; Chiliz has none, and the tokenomics table published by the project itself projects total supply passing 15B after year fourteen. What Chiliz offers instead of a cap is predictability: the emission curve is fixed, the annual step is dated, and the one amendment it has taken — Pepper8 — was designed to converge back on the original schedule by year eight rather than to add supply permanently. Predictable growth is not the same thing as scarcity, but it is far easier to price than a discretionary emission.
What to watch in the next 90 days
The monthly buyback-and-burn settlement is the single biggest swing factor, and three of them fall inside the forward window — expected late Aug 2026, late Sep 2026 and late Oct 2026. Their size is not fixed: the May settlement was 4.66M CHZ and the July one 24.29M, because the burn is denominated in fiat revenue and converted at the prevailing price. Watch the burn address itself rather than the announcements, since the reports have named the wrong address before. The next emission step is Jun 17 2027, outside this window, so nothing changes the mint before then unless governance intervenes. Two live governance items are worth tracking even though neither moves supply today: a proposal to cut the unstaking wait to two days, and one to raise the active validator set to twelve — the first would make staked CHZ even more liquid, which matters for how quickly the float can react. Finally, watch whether the ecosystem and operations wallet, which fell from 16.96M to 2.44M CHZ over this window, is refilled and drained again at the same pace, because a sustained drawdown beyond what the mint supplies would open Sell #3.
Summary
Chiliz is a clean, legible, structurally inflationary chain. New CHZ comes from exactly one place — a per-block mint on a published decay curve that was cut 16.5% on Jun 17 2026 to 55.33 CHZ a block — and it is offset by a revenue-funded buyback-and-burn that retired 28.9M CHZ over the window plus 1.3M of destroyed base fees. Net supply grew +1.15% over the last 90 days and the framework projects +1.07% for the next 90, against a monitor reading of +1.13%. The key risk is not an unlock — there are none, and there is no non-circulating bucket left to release — but the fact that the burn is revenue-linked and the mint is not: a weak quarter for fan-token sales widens the gap immediately, while the mint keeps running block by block. And there is no cap to fall back on, only a decay curve that reaches its 1.88% floor a decade from now.
